Knife Notes – Chris Hyde

About Me

I spend my professional (and much of my personal time) buying, selling, designing, collecting and researching knives. In addition, I do consultation and appraisal work relating to … well, you guessed it: knives!

As my career in knives has developed my interest in the history of our oldest tool has become one of the main objectives. I am working on a series of documentaries about the history of knives and the towns that have been important in the development of the cutlery industry.

As of June of 2008 the first documentary which focuses on the history of the town of Solingen, Germany is in post production. I plan to have it completed in October of 2008 and will travel back to Germany to do the first screening.

You can click on “THE SOLINGEN PROJECT” to learn about the first documentary.

I also have several documentary shorts about knives that you can see here “GERMAN KNIFE DOCUMENTARY SHORTS” on YouTube.

Producers or publishers interested in this project can contact me at knifehistory@hotmail.com or by calling 866-862-5233.

I find your site facinating and am thrilled to hear of your Solingen Project. I hope you find enough interest in the project to be able to be able to market it on DVD. I would certainly love to see what you have documented.
Let me say Thank You for undertaking such a huge project and I sincerely hope to get an opportunity to also enjoy the fruits of your labor when you have completed the project.
    Great Good Luck!

    Hey Chris!
Glad to see you are still kicking ass in the imported knives business.
I quit being a government drone a couple of years ago to open a small welding shop.
