...Forge de Laguiole is widely known in the cutlery world as one of the very finest producers of Laguiole style knives. These fine knives are all individual handcrafted pieces of art.

Forge de Laguiole was established in 1987 to restore the craft of knife making in the small namesake town of Laguiole in South Central France. This small award winning company employs about 90 people.

Each knife is crafted in the tradition of Laguiole knives made famous over the years by their design and quality.

Knives in this style were first produced commercially by Pierre Jean Calmels in 1829; corkscrews were added in about 1880 when the distribution of French wine in bottles, rather than barrels, became popular. Le sommelier, the contemporary corkscrew made by the Societe Laguiole, was introduced in 1995.

Today Forge de Laguiole hand crafts every single knife and corkscrew available from their company.

The fine standards of the original Lagioule knives are used in creating contemporary knives including the traditional aspects that define a Laguiole knife including the traditional bee on the back spring, sheperds cross created by the rivets and fine materials including exotic woods, horn and the finest steel.

Please take a look at our growing selection. We are delighted to offer the fine knives of Forge de Laguiole.
