...Helle is celebrating their 75th Year Anniversary in 2007.

Helle knives are one of the finest hunting knives we have seen for the price - anywhere!

Building on the ancient Norwegian tradition of knife making, Helle strives to reflect the the robust, rugged and beautiful qualities of nature in their knives.

Each of Helle's knives feature a special laminated steel blade. Norway is famous for these strong, razor sharp blades.

The core is made of a high alloy steel which gives a lasting deadly sharp edge. It is protected by by two layers of softer steel (18/8), which reduces exposure to corrosion and breakage.

The handles are made from curly birch and other traditional materials. The sheaths are all high quality embossed leather.

HERE IS SOME INFORMATION FROM HELLE ABOUT THEIR PRODUCTION TECHNIQUES:

Unique in Helle knives is the laminated stainless steel used to produce a tough, razor-sharp blade. The technology was developed by our company in cooperation with a Norwegian steel mill. This high performance steel is available only in our knives, and gives each blade a unique combination of high strength and long lasting sharpness. Laminated steel is another Norwegian tradition that is rarely found in other parts of the world.

Don't confuse our knives with factory made knives that are usually produced in big volumes on automated, high production machinery. At Helle, each knife is hand crafted by experienced and dedicated tradesmen. Each blade is shaped to achieve a shaving sharp edge. Knife handles of carefully selected arctic curly birch and aged wood are shaped to precise dimensions and finished to a hand rubbed patina. Each wood handle fits the hand comfortably and has its own distinctive grain and figure, making your Helle knife one of a kind.

Helle takes as much pride in crafting their handsome sheaths as they do their knives. Fine leathers, of the quality used in the making of the best saddles, are vegetable tanned in accordance with strict quality control standards. After forming and stitching, the finished sheath is rubbed with saddle leather greased to produce its luster and protect against stains and moisture.

Our combination of talented craftsmen and advanced technology enables us to make knives that are equal to or exceed the best that our competitors have to offer. Active and systematic development, in cooperation with talented designers, have given our knives the distinctive character that sets them apart from competing products. This developmental work will continue even more actively, and our customers can expect to see even more unique, functional and attractive models in the future.

Handles of carefully selected materials

Good craftsmanship requires the ability to create handle shapes which are consistent with the blade, fit comfortably in the hand, and add character to the knife. In most handles, we use the hard and beautifully structured wood of curly grained birch, alone or in combination with matching materials, such as leather and stag horn. A painstaking process of grinding, polishing and oiling is performed to offer full justice to the natural beauty of these materials. Because we use natural materials in our handles, each Helle knife has its own unique look. A knife is more than just a blade, and a Helle knife is a true work of art.

The Sheath - in the Nordic way

Quality is of utmost importance to A/S Helle Fabrikker, and we apply the same criteria to our sheaths as we do to our knife blades and handles. Good craftsmanship and the perceptible quality of the materials used, make for a sheath which is both strong and attractive. Like our knives, our sheaths are designed to be functional and durable. At the same time, we demand that all sheaths match the beauty and character of the knives that they encase. Our sheaths are made of specially tanned leather, and treated with saddle grease for increased lustre and durability. The particular shape of the Norwegian sheath bears evidence of long-time functional development and at the same time, it enhances the quality of the knife".

Original Helle products are are guaranteed against product defects for 10 years from date of purchase.
