This is a very fine folding hunter from Chambriard. Nearly every European country take credit for this design and France is no different.
A French General named d'Estaing is said to have requisitioned this type of knife from a local cutler in order to have a convenient dual-purpose knife with two blade sizes.
Whatever the true origin of this design is it has enjoyed a great deal of success and examples are seen from England, Germany, Italy and France.
This example is truly superb. The mechanism is extremely precise and the blade has virtually no "play" in the open position.
It measures 12" open, 8 3/4" closed and has a razor sharp blade which is 4 1/2" in the closed position and 7 1/4" in the open position. The blade is Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel. The handle is made from stag with brass pins.

Each knife comes with a custom light-brown leather belt sheath.
