The Deutsches Klingenmuseum (Blade Museum) is a must see for those visiting Solingen. It has the largest collection of fine knives anywhere. The collection ranges from the Bronze Age to contemporary and even futuristic blades.

The Rheinisches Industriemuseum is an example of historic preservation at it's best. The main museum is an interactive working forge. In addition there are several satellite sites around Solingen. The Wipper Kotten for example is on the Wipper river and is a renovated water powered grinding mill from the 17th century.
